Jane Bernhard Columbia Business SchoolI have always been a very driven and creative person. I graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater and continued my work in theater and television acting through my 20s. It took an immense toll on my personal life, which was completely pushed to the side as new opportunities came up. Conventional consulting doesn’t work for me, but I realized having my own consulting business does — so I started one. And if I find a job elsewhere down the line that aligns with my priorities, I may open that door.

Mumbai, India’s financial capital, has seen a lot of new faces over the past year. The heads of global banks have been trooping through, visiting its stock exchanges, buying property and hiring new staff. A postpandemic boom has pushed the value of India’s stock market to about $5 trillion, putting it neck and neck with Hong Kong’s. Wall Street can’t ignore India anymore. Mumbai has been India’s commercial hub for eight decades, but it was relatively unfamiliar to global finance until the past two years.

CNN —Women who closely followed a Mediterranean diet lived much longer than those who did not, according to a new study that followed more than 25,000 women for 25 years. “In this study, adherence to the Mediterranean diet was a proxy for diet quality. Each increase in the adherence to the Mediterranean diet extended life for women, the new study found. In all that data, however, are few details on the specific ways the Mediterranean diet may affect women, especially long-term. “What might be worth noting is that the adherence measure ‘corrects’ for distortions of the Mediterranean diet,” Katz said.

With that in mind, the researchers decided to test out how effective the leftover mushroom substrate could be in removing contaminating substances from water. A 2023 report by the European Union's lending arm, the European Investment Bank (EIB), highlighted that conventional wastewater treatment methods do not fully remove micropollutants. In April, EU lawmakers approved new measures for urban wastewater treatment. In New Zealand, researchers have used fungi to treat soil contaminated by the pesticide PCP. "For example, integrating an extra treatment step into an existing wastewater treatment system requires an upfront investment to change the existing infrastructure," she said.

The novel, which is a Finnish translation of the English original, was received at Helsinki Central Library Oodi’s lobby on Monday - more than 84 years after its due date of December 26, 1939. The returned book contained the borrower’s library card, leading staff to believe that the original patron who took out the book was a businessman from the Pursimiehenkatu area of the Finnish capital. I don’t know if this was the case with this book.”The book was a Finnish edition of Arthur Conan Doyle's Refugees. Strand said that the library already has two copies of the book in its collection, adding: “We sent the book to the book storage of Helsinki city library’s main library which is in Pasila. I lost my hair. Then I found myself.

For more than a year, I had been dealing with my progressive hair loss and clamoring for some sort of control. I launched into the story of my hair loss journey, attempting to convey the stress and uncertainty that had defined the past year. I purchased a long brown human hair wig that initially looked natural in the shop lighting. I learned I had a lot to learn; there was a whole "wearing hair" subculture with special lingo that I knew nothing about. I accepted that I have hair loss and I'm aging, and one day, I'll look in the mirror, and it won't be just my hair that's changed.

Opinion: How is Netanyahu still in power?

View more opinion on CNNCNN —A recent visitor to Israel told me about a conversation in which he noted that Benjamin Netanyahu is the worst prime minister in modern Israel’s history. Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel are becoming increasingly isolated internationally, though experts say this could fortify the prime minister domestically. Israel’s longest-serving prime minister had been largely successful politically, but his personal style and alleged corruption turned many Israelis against him. Are there five courageous members of Likud willing to take the necessary action to move Israel beyond Netanyahu? That is unlikely to happen, however, as long as Netanyahu remains in power.

Over the past two years, the group known as OPEC Plus has agreed to a succession of cuts to oil output. The oil producers’ assumption has been that these trims would be temporary, but they have begun to take on an air of permanence as prices have been relatively subdued. Any relaxation of cuts would risk sinking prices in what looks like a soft market, analysts say. It is a frustrating situation for oil producers like Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, which could pump additional crude, bolstering their budgets. Saudi Arabia’s oil minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, who is expected to lead the meeting, relishes surprises, so other outcomes are possible.

In New York, where Trump was convicted, there are “collateral consequences” of being convicted of a felony. In Florida, felons lose civil rights, including the ability to hold public office and serve on a jury. Trump is a Florida resident, and Florida defers to New York law on the question of felons voting. In New York, convicted felons cannot obtain a permit to possess a firearm. That’s not at issue in this New York case, and it’s not going to happen when Republicans control the House as they currently do.

Republican candidates in all eight of the country’s most competitive Senate races have changed their approach on the issue of abortion, softening their rhetoric, shifting their positions and, in at least one case, embracing policies championed by Democrats. From Michigan to Maryland, Republicans are trying to repackage their views to defang an issue that has hurt their party at the ballot box since the Supreme Court overturned federal abortion rights. While the pivot is endemic across races in swing states, the most striking shifts have come from candidates who unsuccessfully ran for the Senate just two years ago in their home states, with abortion views that sounded very different. When Bernie Moreno, a Republican businessman, ran for a Senate seat in Ohio in 2022, he described his views as “absolute pro-life, no exceptions.”“Life begins at conception” and “abortion is the murder of an innocent baby,” he said on social media.

However, some equity strategists point out that even a landslide victory for Modi's BJP could potentially sour the stock market. Here’s a look at the importance of the border strip to Israel, to Palestinians and to Egypt:What is the border strip? It is land around 100 yards wide that runs roughly eight miles from Israel’s border to the Mediterranean. The Israelis used the code name Philadelphi for the strip, while Egyptian officials call it Salah Al Din. Why does it matter to Israel? Senior Israeli officials had set control of the strip, which in Israel is called the Philadelphi Corridor, as a military objective.

Last year, Twyla Tharp immersed herself in the work of the French writer and philosopher Albert Camus, namely “The Plague.” World events were on her mind, and his 1947 novel about a pandemic in Algeria struck a chord. In her new full-length work, an outdoor dance-and-musical hybrid, “How Long Blues,” named after a Leroy Carr song, Tharp finds inspiration in that writing and also in American jazz. It reminds Tharp a little of performing at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park in 1971, when she presented the premiere of “Eight Jelly Rolls.” A couple of performances “had puddles onstage,” she said. But the Little Island stage, while also outdoors, is not that. Tharp, who directed, choreographed and conceived “How Long Blues,” which runs June 1 through 23, regards the proscenium as a wonderful thing.

When Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel announced plans late last year to occupy a sensitive corridor of land in the Gaza Strip, along the border with Egypt, the response from Cairo was public, explicit and ominous. Egypt said that an Israeli military presence there would violate the 1979 peace treaty between the two countries. This week, the Israeli military announced that it had seized “tactical control” of the corridor. Yet despite the Egyptian government facing domestic pressure to take a harsher stance on Israel following its military offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, there has been no public Egyptian comment on the seizure of the corridor. The silence may be a reflection of the dilemma Egypt finds itself in after nearly eight months of war in Gaza.
